CONOCER certifies 54 waiters from 15 Riviera Nayarit hotels

  • Training hotel personnel in this tourist destination is just one of the commitments the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association makes to its associates

The Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) together with the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) issued CONOCER Work Competency Certificates under the EC0038 standard (Attention to Diners) to 54 waiters from 15 associated hotels to strengthen and improve the level of service and tourist culture in the destination.



One of the commitments AHMBB has with its associates is, precisely, the training and updating of hotel personnel via its Safety, Tourist Culture, Urban Image, and Environment committees.

The certificates were issued on March 3rd at the Reflect Nuevo Vallarta Hotel, where human resource managers, department heads, and training leaders from participating hotels were present in addition to the personnel who received their certificates that day.

In his message, the president of the AHMBB congratulated the staff who received their work competency certificates, emphasizing the merits of their effort.



“A lot of work goes into being a waiter, a lot of effort. I know it’s not an easy path, there are a lot of bumps along the way, but you should be very proud of where you are right now, because your work is very important and being certified is the best you can do in the competitive world of hospitality,” he said.

He urged them to continue studying as they still have a long way to go, especially now that grand hotels with millionaire investments are coming to the Banderas Bay area.

“How far you go is up to you. You should be proud both of your service and of the contact you have with guests, and proud that we have a destination with such extraordinary service,” he finished.



Meanwhile, Alberto Martínez, coordinator of the Tourism Culture Committee, highlighted the effort made by the Hotel Association to promote the destination and to have tourists come to stay in their hotels. In general, it’s the waiters who have the most contact with guests, even more so than the managers themselves, which is why the certification is so important.

Participating hotels in this work competency course are: Reflect Nuevo Vallarta; The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort; Royal Decameron Complex; Vallarta Gardens; Occidental Nuevo Vallarta; Real del Mar; Marival Distinct; Hard Rock Vallarta; Paradise Village; Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit; Marival Emotions; Villa Group Hotels; Haramara; and El Pueblito Sayulita.

These certificates of Work Competency are part of the commitment the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) has with its member properties via its Safety and Human Resources committee in coordination with the Department of Member Services and Tourism Development Programs of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), in order to strengthen and raise the level of services and cultural tourism in the Riviera Nayarit.
