Veg Fest Bucerías 2020 promotes a healthy lifestyle in the Riviera Nayarit

  • The 2nd edition of this event takes place on February 28th and 29th at the main plaza in Bucerías with the participation of 50 local entrepreneurs featuring their vegan and vegetarian products.

The festival promoting the vegan lifestyle and everything it entails—environmental awareness, ethics, and health—is back in the Riviera Nayarit. Veg Fest Bucerías 2020 will be held on February 28th and 29th from 17:00 to 22:00 hrs. in Bucerías—one of the Riviera Nayarit’s coastal villages and the only one in Banderas Bay with an oceanfront public plaza.

About 50 entrepreneurs and small- and mid-sized local businesses offering vegan or vegetarian products are expected to participate. There will also be yoga and cooking workshops, as well as DJs playing electronic music, concerts, and the presentation of the Banderas Bay Municipal Orchestra and the Tintoc folkloric ballet.

One of the event’s main objectives is to promote a healthy lifestyle and physical, animal, and environmental wellness. This type of activity also helps diversify the tourist offer in the coastal villages of the Banderas Bay municipality.

Festival organizer Jesús Eduardo de los Santos commented that the event’s first edition was a hit with attendees, plus that the garbage and waste generated was minimal since most of the exhibitors used biodegradable or recyclable products, use of plastics was limited, and polyurethane was prohibited.

“We want to repeat the success we had last year,” he said. “The first edition had such a positive impact and it exceeded our expectations. The vegan and vegetarian community is growing every day, creating a collective awareness in the human conscience. The care of the environment is no longer an option—it’s an obligation for the authorities, the commercial sector, the people, and the community at large.”

Events in the Riviera Nayarit

The Riviera Nayarit has plenty of natural attractions, but it has also added events tourism part of its tourist strategy, promoting and sponsoring local events that display the essence of its 23 micro-destinations.

“These events allow us to contribute to the destination’s economic spillover by incentivizing the arrival of visitors to the hotels and, above all, by offering an ample variety of activities for vacationers,” added Jesús Carmona Jiménez, president of the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association.
