The Riviera Nayarit publicizes its tourist offer in top media from the Southern Cone

  • Nineteen respected journalists from Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, and Paraguay took a closer look at the novelties and attractions in Mexico’s Pacific Treasure.

The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) conducted a Press Tour with journalists from four countries within the Southern Cone region in Latin America to strengthen the relationship with the media from the top countries of origin for tourists to the region.

The circuit was organized by the Riviera Nayarit CVB Public Relations office and took place from October 5th through the 16th. Nineteen travel and tourism journalists from Montevideo, Uruguay; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Santiago, Chile; and Asunción, Paraguay; were visited as part of the tour, which complemented the promotional efforts of the CVB in South America during September and October. These included its participation in the Feria Internacional de Turismo (FIT) in Argentina, as well as the Copa Vacations Chile and Copa Vacations conventions, both held in the Riviera Nayarit.

According to Richard Zarkin, public relations director for the CVB, the goal was to engage the media more closely, thereby expanding the office’s promotional efforts within these important and growing markets. This also served to encourage diversification towards the destination.

Zarkin held interviews with the top journalists in their respective media, both print and digital, as well as with several freelance journalists from specialized magazines and newspapers.

The tour began in Asunción, Paraguay, where Zarkin met with six journalists from targeted media including the magazines High Class, Check in, Canal 9, Diario ABC, Contacto Editorial, and Revista Level. All focus on current trends, tourism, travel, gastronomy, and fashion.

In Uruguay, the Riviera Nayarit’s head of public relations spoke with three journalists from Editorial Turística, Revista Eme, and El País. Afterwards, he met with eight journalists in Argentina from well-known media including Clarín, Radio Conexión Abuerta, the Acercando Naciones organization, 50son Tour, Turismo en un Click, Report, Turismo de Bolsillo, and Gaceta Mercantil. The circuit concluded in Santiagio de Chile with TurismoCuatro Magazine, La Tercera, and El Mercurio’s Revista Domingo.

The Riviera Nayarit is persevering in its efforts to disseminate positive news, a trend that began in August 2018 with visits to six important cities of the United States, followed by tours to three Canadian cities in November 2018, and then to four cities on the East Coast of the United States in March 2019.

Last but not least, Richard Zarkin mentioned that, as a result of this tour, they expect an important return on investment via publications in the different media with which he spoke.
