The Riviera Nayarit showcases its treasures at the Paraguay Copa Vacations Convention

  • The event welcomed the best travel agents from “The Happiest Country in the World” to participate in a training program on this destination’s tourist offer.

The Riviera Nayarit, Mexico’s Pacific Treasure, opened its doors to share its most precious gems with 65 of the best travel sales agents from the top three wholesalers in Paraguay during the VI Copa Vacations Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit 2019 convention held here October 17-20.

The convention took place in the Riviera Nayarit at the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta, where the teams created an extensive training program directed towards travel agents from “The World’s Happiest Country” (Paraguay’s nickname). The focus was on the destination’s tourist offer.

Along with Copa Airlines and the Copa Vacations pool—made up of wholesalers Maral Turismo, Oppy Group, and Intertours—the Riviera Nayarit coordinated an event that not only included work-filled days but also the opportunity to explore Banderas Bay’s most iconic spots during a series of pre- and post-event tours.

The first group arrived October 13-17 to explore the Riviera Nayarit, with the second group arriving October 17-20 to begin the convention. They stayed on through October 24 to continue enjoying the area.

Promotions in Paraguay

Paraguayan influencer Manny del Valle was also at the convention, presenting his show during the welcome dinner at the Hard Rock Hotel. Del Valle also shared his activities with his followers on social media and had a very positive impact on his audience in Paraguay.

Forty-three local businesses participated in the workshop; their representatives had face-to-face encounters with the invited travel agents.

Once the event was over, the agents had the chance to talk about their experiences while in the Riviera Nayarit. The comments were positive overall, with some adding they couldn’t have imagined how attractive the destination was, never mind its culture, gastronomy, and the fabulous biodiversity of Banderas Bay.

“The purpose of our actions is to strengthen the promotion of our destination within the Paraguayan market, especially after the recent promotional visits there in September,” said Lucero Guerrero, sales and promotions manager for the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). “During our stay we were able to verify the positive reaction Paraguay has had as a departure point for the Copa Airlines flight from Panama City.”

She added that it was a great opportunity to be able to bring the best salespeople from Paraguay to the destination with the support of wholesalers Intertours, Maral, and OPPY, and Copa Airlines. “Even though Paraguay is a small country, the potential it has to continue filling seats is very encouraging,” she said.
