- Personnel from association hotels received Certificates of Occupational
Competence within Standards EC0060 and EC0061 for “On-Site Surveillance of
Goods and People.”
The Bahía de
Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) together with the Riviera Nayarit
Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and its Safety Committee awarded 57
Certificates of Occupational Competence complying with Standard EC0060 and
three certificates complying with Standard EC0061—both issued by CONOCER—to an
equal number of hotel security agents who took the “On-Site Surveillance of
Goods and People” course.
The number of
certified hotel staff continues to increase in Riviera Nayarit hotels, particularly
within the security sector, to strengthen and increase the quality of the
destination’s service and tourist culture.
The certificate
awards ceremony was held at the Hard Rock Vallarta hotel in Nuevo Vallarta and
was led by Esteban Orosco, VP of the AHMBB and Coordinator of the Bahía de
Banderas Safety Committee, together with Erick de la Teja Pastor, General
Director of the EXCELA Certifying Organization, and Julio Barrera Zaragoza,
General Director of SILA, Consultation, and Certification.
Representing
the hotel union, Esteban Orosco celebrated the agents’ work: “You were the ones
who put in all the effort. We know it’s not easy to work and study at the same
time, but it’s all part of your growth. You don’t owe anything to anybody, you
did it all on your own.”
Meanwhile,
Erick de la Teja Pastor, General Director of the EXCELA Certifying
Organization, added that the National Council for Standardization and
Certification of Competency Standards (CONOCER) has awarded over 2 million
certifications since its inception, with more than 150 thousand annual
certifications. However, he pointed out that within the safety sector they have
only awarded 350 certificates in all of Mexico; of those, 250 have been given
to personnel from Riviera Nayarit hotels.

“You know
what that means? That out of about 125 million Mexicans, you are proficient in
security matters. This makes you special, but it’s also a big responsibility—what
you put into your work day-to-day is what will make this document valuable. So
please, honor this document with your honest, serious, and productive labor,”
he said.
Participating
hotels in this evaluation and certification process are: Hard Rock Hotel
Vallarta; Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit; Marival Group; Real del Mar; St. Regis
Punta Mita Resort; Vallarta Gardens; Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita; Vidanta,
Hoteles Riu, Iberostar Playa Mita, and Royal Decameron Complex.
THE FACTS:
The awarding of these certificates is part of the
commitment the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) has with
its member properties via its Safety and Human Resources committee in
coordination with the Department of Member Services and Tourism Development
Programs of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB).
###
The continual promotion
of the Riviera Nayarit both on a national and international level has yielded excellent
results, thanks to the efforts not only of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and
Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association,
but also of the business sector and the communities that work in tandem to
offer all our visitors a very pleasant stay. This is possible thanks to the
support of the Government of the State of Nayarit via the Tourism Promotion
Trust (Fiprotur).
