5 things you need to know before traveling to the Riviera Nayarit
If you’re preparing to visit this paradise on earth—that is, the Riviera Nayarit—here are five things you need to know to plan the perfect vacation. Whether you’re traveling with family, your significant other, or friends, these tips will help you make the most of your stay.
1-Location
The Riviera Nayarit is located in the state of Nayarit just 15 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport and forms part of the Bahía de Banderas (Banderas Bay). There are more than 40 hotels in this area, some are all-inclusive, others follow the European plan. There are plenty of options to choose from.
2-Transportation
Some tourists get a bit nervous about traveling because of the cost of getting from one place to another once you get to where they’re going: that’s not an issue in the Riviera Nayarit. There are plenty of safe and inexpensive public transportation options that can help you get from point A to point B; you can also choose to get around by booking Uber or a taxi service. You can even get all the way to the malecón, or boardwalk, in Puerto Vallarta using public transportation.
3-Beaches
The beaches in the Riviera Nayarit are the prettiest in all of Mexico and there’s something for everyone. If you’re looking for a family beach, try Destliaderas or Nuevo Vallarta Sur (certified as a Clean Beach). Prefer to hit the waves and surf? Then head out to La Lancha. Want to see something amazing? Go to Lo de Marcos. Can’t miss beaches include Los Muertos in Sayulita, La Playa in San Pancho, Los Ayala and Isla Coral in Guayabitos, and Careyeros in Punta de Mita.
4-Gastronomy
This is the yummiest part of the Riviera Nayarit! Don’t miss the seven flavors of aguachile (shrimp marinated in different sauces) in San Pancho, or the pescado zarandeado (grilled fish) served in San Blas, Playa Platanitos, or Playa Chacala. You can also experience all kinds of culinary delights in the different gourmet and signature restaurants found all over the Riviera Nayarit.
5-Micro-destinations
The Riviera Nayarit is made up of 23 micro-destinations where you’ll enjoy gorgeous beaches, art, culture, gastronomy, and the most exclusive spas in Mexico. Among the can’t miss destinations are Sayulita, San Pancho, Lo de Marcos, Bucerías, Punta de MIta, Guayabitos, and San Blas. They should all be on your checklist, but you shouldn’t leave without visiting at least two!
