The Riviera Nayarit Validated As A Favorite With Celebrities
- Since the creation of the tourist brand 10 years ago, the Riviera Nayarit has been a magnet for numerous celebrities both domestic and international, as well as athletes, models and influencers—and 2017 was no exception.
The Riviera Nayarit is the ideal place for those who want to visit a beautiful destination for a long getaway, one that’s discrete, surrounded by nature and, at the same time, luxurious and exclusive.
All these attractions haven’t gone unnoticed for the rich and famous who year after year choose Mexico’s Pacific Treasure to escape for a few days from the grind of touring, recording, interviewing or sports events to enjoy the sun, the beaches and its magnificent hotels.
And so in 2017 nearly 50 actors and actresses, singers, models, athletes and influencers both domestic and international arrived in the Riviera Nayarit. Their visits contribute to the diffusion of the destination thanks to their posts on social media accounts with thousands of followers, as well as articles and images published in different media.
January 2017
The “shower of stars” began in January 2017 with a visit from Kylie Jenner (the youngest Kardashian) and her boyfriend Tyga, who stayed at their friend’s house—producer and businessman Joe Francis. The young entrepreneur and socialite showed off her spectacular figure and had time to enjoy the zip-line at Rancho Mi Chaparrita in Sayulita. That same month, Russian model Anna Vialítsyna, better known as Anne V and for appearing in Sports Illustrated for 10 years in a row, was seen in Punta Mita, where Mexican actress Dominika Paleta also landed for a few days. At least 20 designers, musicians, conductors, bloggers, YouTubers and influencers were also spotted in the destination.
March
Springtime in March coincided with the arrival of US actor Matt Damon to Sayulita, who took advantage of his stay to savor the delicious cuisine of Nayarit in a well-known restaurant in this Magical Town. Mexican singers Alejandro Fernandez, Yuri and Ninel Conde were also in Punta de Mita in those days; meanwhile, Lauren Bushnell, winner of The Bachelor 2016, celebrated her birthday at the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita.
April
The Holy Days of April were a bit less so with the presence of two performers who cause a sensation wherever they go individually—together they made an even bigger splash in 2017: Rihanna and her sexy bikini in Punta Mita, and the singer Maluma during a concert in Nuevo Vallarta. That same month it was time for “celebrity chefs” to take center stage during their participation in the Cuisine of the Sun event in Nuevo Vallarta under the guidance of the famous Food Network chef and USFoods culinary expert, Penny Davidi.
May
Celebrities continued to arrive in the Riviera Nayarit in May, choosing exclusive areas like Punta de Mita or more popular ones like Sayulita. This month Mexican actors and hosts Jaqueline Bracamontes, Marc Tacher, Betty Monroe and André Marín made headlines. Dreka Gates, wife of rapper Kevin Gates; models Shea Marie and Kendall Visser; and US journalist, Katie Couric, were also sighted. Influencer Vicky Navarro; YouTuber Hailee Bobailee; fashion stylist Ari Camacho; and luxury influencer Pamela Allier were spotted as well. Near the end of the month visitors included US actress and singer-songwriter Candice Accola, musician José King, and designer Tina Craig, as well as Mexican celebrities Alejandro Fernández and Rocío Banquells, and soccer player Isaac Brizuela.
June
In June Punta Mita welcomed US actors Mario López from Saved by the Bell and The Flash’s Grant Gustin. Mario López came to celebrate Father’s Day with his family at Casa Aramara in Punta Mita, owned by producer Joe Francis, with whom they shared good times. Meanwhile, actor and singer Grant Gustin enjoyed some couple time at the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. This same month actress and hostess Mariana Echeverría was in the Riviera Nayarit, as were Mexican actor, Eddy Vilard, known for his role in the soap opera Rebelde, and Uriel Santana, a model known as the “sexy celebrity photographer.” Finally, Tania Peregrino, creative director and influencer, was spotted in Punta de Mita.
July
Model and actress Catherine Bell celebrated the 4th of July (US Independence Day) in the Riviera Nayarit, where she toasted with tequila and enjoyed the region’s traditional dishes, among them the pescado zarandeado. Bell was charmed by the natural beauty of the destination and the white-glove service she received during her stay at the Four Seasons Punta Mita.
August
In August the Riviera Nayarit welcomed none other than Hollywood actor Richard Gere, who visited the destination with his girlfriend, Spanish model, businesswoman, and activist Alejandra Silva. During this period Mexican actor and director, Diego Luna—hero of the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)—chose to pamper himself at the luxurious Four Seasons Punta Mita.
September
The luxury and exclusivity offered by the Riviera Nayarit’s Glamour Peninsula attracted the attention of actress and businesswoman Tori Spelling who, accompanied by her husband actor Dean McDermott and their five children, spent a spectacular weekend at the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. Spelling is known for her role as Donna Martin in the TV series Beverly Hills 90210, which ran from October 4, 1990 to May 17, 2000, during prime time on FOX network in the US.
October
In October Scott Disick—Kourtney Kardashian’s ex-husband—was seen in very good company with none other than young model Sofía Richie, daughter of musician Lionel Richie. The couple was the focus of intense media attention, since Disick had recently separated from Kardashian. The photos that circulated on social media and other international mainstream media confirmed the romance that had been kept a secret until then.
November
Tamra Judge, star of the reality show The Real Housewives of Orange County, and her husband, Eddie Judge, enjoyed a fun-filled vacation in the Riviera Nayarit during their stay at the Four Seasons Punta Mita Resort. The couple went on social media to share several images of them enjoying the luxury and exotic natural landscapes of this tourism destination.
Towards the end of the month, the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort received a visit from model and influencer Michelle Salas, daughter of singer Luis Miguel and actress Stephanie Salas, and granddaughter of famous actress, Silvia Pinal. Michelle has begun a career in the international fashion world and has become a well-known figure as the face of global brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel and Cartier, among others.
During her visit to the Riviera Nayarit, Salas—who also spent a few days at Imanta Resorts Punta de Mita—posted a video on Instagram thanking her 500 thousand followers where she can be seen showing off her curves in a bikini.
December
We ended 2017 with a visit from famous US actor, producer, and director Billy Crystal, who said goodbye to the old year at the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita celebration. The star of When Harry Met Sallycelebrated with his family and was completely accessible and polite with everyone who approached him.

These celebrity visits give the Riviera Nayarit hundreds of thousands of media impressions, something that undoubtedly strengthens the promotional efforts to position the destination undertaken by the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) with the support of the Government of the State of Nayarit via the Tourism Promotion Trust (Fiprotur).
