Located within Mexico’s most exclusive beach community along the shores of Riviera Nayarit, The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, in conjunction with Punta Mita Expeditions, Punta Mita Resorts, and the Riviera Nayarit Convention & Visitors Bureau, announced today the success of the fourth edition of the Punta Mita Beach Festival.
As part of the four-day extravaganza held July 7 – 10, guests enjoyed activities guided by renowned sports professionals in different disciplines such as surfing, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), snorkeling, and yoga. The summer fiesta also provided culinary offerings featuring the freshest regional delicacies. This year, The Punta Mita Beach Festival was host to professional Chilean surfer Ramón Navarro’s film premiere in The Americas, The Fisherman’s Son, focused on Navarro’s mission to protect the culture and environment of the Chilean coast.
“We are excited to announce the success of the 2016 Punta Mita Beach Festival, which is one of the most anticipated summer events in Mexico. The four-day festival offered a unique environment for our loyal guests who enjoyed the opportunity to get close and personal with the masters while practicing their beach sport of preference,” said James Hughes, general manager of The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort. “This year, we were also pleased to have created a platform to educate about the importance of protecting our oceans.”
Attended by more than 107 participants, the fourth annual event began on Thursday, July 7, with a festive cocktail reception at The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort’s Sea Breeze Beach Club, where guests enjoyed fine dining and special bites prepared by guest chefs Alexander Branch, Manuel Peruyero, and Erick Ramos, as well as an exquisite selection of gourmet cocktails, Bocanegra beer, Latin American wines and a seductive selection of tequilas by Tequila Patrón. Sounds and rhythms from DJ Mauricio provided great enjoyment and started the Punta Mita Beach Festival weekend-long party.
At this year’s annual event, guests enjoyed the most unique experiences guided by experts such as the Professional Chilean surfer, Ramón Navarro; the founder and director of the Mexican Institute of Yoga Ana Paula Domínguez; and leading international stand up paddle and surf professionals Ryan Helm and Javier Álvarez. The culinary offerings and special libations for guests were prepared by prestigious chefs including Alexander Branch, Manuel Peruyero, and Erick Ramos, accompanied by Patrón Tequila, Latin American wines, and Bocanegra beer.

The four-day adventure started on Friday morning with active surfing, stand-up paddle and yoga sessions, followed by an awards lunch featuring a selection of fresh seafood at The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort’s famed Mita Mary Boat Bistro on Sea Breeze Beach. That evening, guests enjoyed the iconic St. Regis Champagne Ritual in the Altamira Lobby, followed by a spectacular “Mexico Meets Peru” exotic fusion dinner on the beach created by Peruvian Chef Erick Ramos. At dusk, the resort hosted a beach bonfire and a special movie screening presentation—airing for the first time in The Americas—of big wave surfer Ramón Navarro’s The Fisherman’s Son with a hosted Q&A. Navarro discovered his passion for the ocean and surfing at an early age, which is why he is committed to numerous projects in order to preserve his country’s vibrant surf environment.
On Saturday, the fitness-oriented fun continued with several outdoor activities including an innovative SUP For the Ocean workshop in which guests learned how to build their own stand-up paddle board with recycled materials. This activity aimed to create consciousness about the importance of recycling and reducing the use of PET materials at home. Chef Alexander Branch hosted Saturday’s lunch at the famed Mita Mary Boat Bistro with a special selection of fresh seafood. Following lunch, the awards celebration unveiled the winners of each activity category. The weekend concluded with a special closing dinner at The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort’s Sea Breeze Beach created by Chefs Manuel Peruyero, Erick Ramos, and Alexander Branch. Prior to departing on Sunday, guests were invited to seize the morning with a Farewell Brunch at Sea Breeze Restaurant.
