XXIV International Banderas Bay Regatta
- Interesting stats about the oldest regatta in the Mexican Pacific include the involvement of some 50 boats with more than 280 participants and over 800 attendees, which will generate over 9 million pesos in revenue.
The Riviera Nayarit will welcome the XXIV International Banderas Bay Regatta with a boat parade; the competition will take place from March 9-13, 2016 in Nuevo Vallarta, hosted by the Vallarta Yacht Club.
This being the oldest and largest regattas on Mexico’s Pacific Coast also makes it one of the top regattas in the world. Cruising sailboats, racers and even some categories of small boats will enjoy four days on the beautiful Banderas Bay, known around the world for its excellent sailing conditions.
There will be approximately 50 participating boats, which equal 280 competitors. Each athlete brings along an average of three companions, meaning there will be over 800 visitors in the destination thanks to this event.
This influx is expected to generate nearly 1,500 reserved room-nights, with revenue to the area reaching a little over 9 million pesos, which is why the Groups and Events department of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau is collaborating with this important event.
This year’s edition will take place within the framework of the FMV Cup 2016 Vallarta-Nayarit as one of its regattas.
This competition seeks to encourage sailing among the younger generations, which is why it urges participants to include novices in their crews. The YVC’s youth program is the oldest and largest in the region, making it ground zero for the training of Mexico’s best sailors.
Besides the regattas there will also be several social events on the schedule for participants to enjoy the Riviera Nayarit’s many attractions. Click here for details: http://www.banderasbayregatta.com/.
