Midwest US Tour A Success
- The tour made stops in St. Louis, Missouri; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, training over 460 travel and sales agents along the way.
The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust embarked on a successful Midwest Tour from March 7-11, 2016 that stopped at four cities in four states within the United States.
This activity organized by the Promotions and Sales department included 21 regional hotels as well as the top Tour Operator Wholesalers in the areas they visited, such as Apple Vacations, Classic Vacations, Delta/MLT Vacations, Funjet Vacations and Sun Country Vacations. Aeroméxico was also present.
“The US Midwest is one of the regions that sends us the most tourists, especially during the wintertime,” said Marc Murphy, Managing Director of the Riviera Nayarit CVB. “All of the cities visited have nonstop flights to our destinations, either by commercial airlines or charters.”
As far as the destinations of origin for tourists to the Riviera Nayarit go, the states visited ranked as follows: Illinois is in 2nd place with 89%; Minnesota in 6th with 2.7%; Missouri is 10thwith 2.7%; and Wisconsin is 16th with 1.8%. This information was obtained via the Riviera Nayarit’s 2015 Barometer.
Seminars were held in all four cities with the participation of 260 travel agents. A training session was also held at the Funjet Vacations call center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where over 200 additional sales agents participated in the event.
