AHMBB Board of Directors Reelected By Unanimous Vote
- The continuity of the AHMBB Board of Directors and the support of the three levels of government have been key to the fact the Riviera Nayarit has become one of Mexico’s most important tourism destinations on an international scale.
The Yearly Assembly of the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB, by its acronym in Spanish) took place on February 3, 2016, in Nuevo Vallarta, where the Board of Directors was reelected by a unanimous vote.
The AHMBB Board of Directors is as follows: Fernando González Ortega, President; Jesús Carmona, Vice President; Heriberto Pineda, Treasurer; and spokespersons Ignacio Mendoza and James Hughes.
Omar Camarena, Secretary of Tourism for the State of Nayarit, was present at the meeting, who has been in constant communication with the AHMBB and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) since his recent nomination. Juanita Duarte, Subsecretary of State for Nayarit, was also present.
“This was not only a reelection of Fernando González but more an election of the union that exists among the associates,” declared Fernando González Ortega, President of the AHMBB. “Nearly 100% of all dues are paid, no one is leaving, we managed to convince the important hotels and the large chains to incorporate all of their hotels and we managed to include the smaller ones as well.”
“The vote was for more than a single person or a group, it was a matter of continuity,” added González Ortega. “There is a great environment, good attendance at meetings, the executive committee always works in the presence of the other hoteliers, we meet six or seven times a year and I believe the image we’ve presented of strength, of working together as a team and of good communication has been our biggest accomplishment.”
Marc Murphy, Managing Director of the Riviera Nayarit CVB, attended the assembly and was happy with the reelection, which he qualified as timely in order to continue the momentum of the Riviera Nayarit’s tourism recovery.
“If it isn’t broken there’s no need to fix it,” said Murphy. “We’re all in the same boat here steering it in the same direction and that’s how we’ll keep it. We also want to then the three levels of government, which have continually lent us their unwavering support.”
