- The influx of tourists from Argentina and Brazil to the region has increased 300% and 200%, respectively, when comparing the time period from January through October 2015 to the same period in 2014.
The Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) chose the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto
Vallarta as the locations for FAM trips comprised of two groups of travel
agents from Argentina and Brazil, who came to inspect the tourism corridor and
thus strengthen the sales of both destinations in South America.
Nine Argentine agents were in the region from November 6-11, 2015, while
the nine Brazilian travel agents visited from November 9-12.
“Colombia has been the Emerging Market in South America with the fastest
response to the stimulus of the joint promotion, however, Argentina and Brazil
have experienced considerable growth,” commented Marc Murphy, Managing Director
of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau. “The arrival of
Argentine visitors increased 300% and those of Brazilians 200% during the
period from January through October 2015 when compared to the same time period
in 2014. Though the samples are small, the increases are significant.”
The Argentine tour through the Riviera Nayarit included Sayulita and
Bucerías before they headed to our neighbor down south. The Brazilian FAM,
which was focused on promoting destination wedding locations in Mexico, visited
Litibú-Higuera Blanca, Sayulita and Nuevo Vallarta.
“Right now Sayulita is on everyone’s lips and is a must for a FAM trip.
Agents and journalists all want to experience it since their clients are very
curious about the village that has captured their attention because of the
surfing, SUP, culture and laidback lifestyle,” commented Murphy.
