As part of the Joint Promotional Campaign, the Public Relations Department of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau and its counterpart in the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust welcomed one TV station from Chile and another from Brazil in order to stimulate these South American Emerging Markets.
MEGA Chile was the first Chilean TV station ever to visit the area, while Brasil Rede TV toured with the show Viagem Cultural.
MEGA Chile is the station with the most viewers for the past two years in its country of origin. It is a private broadcaster that has been successful thanks to its empathy with its viewers and its potent mix of shows and entertainment.
The broadcaster transmits content via its different platforms: the MEGA HD signal, its websites, its cable TV affiliate ETC TV and via Radio Candela. With an average rating of 13 points, MEGA Chile is the station with the most viewers in Chile. It has nearly one million followers on Facebook and a little over half a million on Twitter.
Taping in Nayarit included the Playa Escondida in the Islas Marietas, the Centro Cultural Entre Amigos in San Pancho, surfing lessons in Sayulita Pueblo Mágico, the Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and the hotel infrastructure of Nuevo Vallarta.
Viagem Cultural is one of the most popular shows in Brazil, with journalist Rodrigo Ruas offering top tips for travelers. The program explores the possibilities of each tourism region through stories, its gastronomy, the local arts, environmental preservation, adventure sports and culture—basically, everything the Riviera Nayarit has to offer.
It airs twice a week reaching one million Brazilians and boasts over 48 replays each month within the Rede TV programming. The show’s Twitter account has over a million followers.
