Argentina’s Perception Of The Riviera Nayarit And Vallarta Improves

  • Two-hundred-and-forty agents were trained via seminars held in Buenos Aires, Rosario and Cordoba, and an appreciation dinner with the MTB and the region’s hotels was held for Argentine tour operators.

The Promotions department of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur) worked together during an intense Tour through Argentina from November 9-13, 2015, in order to raise awareness regarding the changing perceptions of this Emerging Market on this region.

“Apart from the excellent attendance and interest generated, the tour was successful because where the Argentines used to believe the beaches of the Riviera Nayarit and Vallarta were ugly and lifeless, after seeing them they were very impressed,” said Marc Murphy, Managing Director of the Riviera Nayarit CVB. “This improvement in perception has been gradually achieved through press and agent FAM trips to the region, as well as these tours.”

Seminars and presentations took place during the week with the Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) and 11 hotels from both destinations that offered information and gifts to the participating agents. Aeroméxico also accompanied the team and gave away round trip tickets to complement the gifted stays.

An appreciation dinner was held for 10 Tour Operators on the first day of the activities with the presence of the Argentina MTB’s Deputy Director, Claudia Valadez. The Tour Operators have created travel packages with special rates in order to incentivize the consumers.

The seminars were notable because the estimated number of attending agents was surpassed thanks to the interest in the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta that has been generated in this South American country.

The seminars were held in Buenos Aires for 96 travel agents, followed by Rosario with 71 travel agents and finally Córdoba with an equal number of participants.
