- This promotional effort is spearheaded by the MTB and included both destinations in its recent tour through Chile, Peru and Colombia, fostering relationships with over 700 travel and sales agents.
The Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta accepted the invitation of the
Mexico Tourism Board to form part of the Pacific Alliance Tour, where they
accompanied additional Mexican destinations in carrying out the tourism
promotion strategies laid out by the Federal Government.
Besides Mexico, the alliance is composed of the South American countries
and Emerging Markets of Chile, Peru and Colombia; thus, the importance for the
Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta to be present in these international
activities that seek to strengthen the bonds between said nations.
The activities took place from August 31st to September 4th
and included an ample agenda of seminars, conferences, presentations, workshops
and promotional visits reaching more than 700 travel and sales agents in the
three countries, as well as 15 journalists with national coverage in Chile.
Eight activities were held in Santiago de Chile for 179 travel agents
and the aforementioned 15 journalists. In Lima, Peru, there were four other
activities held for 460 travel agents, making this the country with the top presence.
A seminar also took place in Bogota, Colombia for 80 travel agents. Finally, three
magazine editors in Peru were approached for brief interviews.
The destinations also made the most of the Tour to brainstorm ways to
implement special rates or packages with Aeromexico to incentivize South
American visitors.
