The Riviera Nayarit And Puerto Vallarta “Invade” Toronto
- 80 travel agents from Westjet, Air Canada and Sunwing received training, as well as 125 call center agents at Transat and Sunwing; the team participated in Canada’s Bridal Show, which welcomed 4,000 brides; Toronto is the third country of origin for Canadian tourists to the Riviera Nayarit.
The strategies of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur) made their way to Toronto, Canada, from September 8th through the 13thparticipating in seminars, trainings and expos.
It all began on September 8th with a seminar for 80 travel agents at the offices of tour operators Westjet, Air Canada and Sunwing. The following two days were busy with workshops for 50 agents from Transat and another 75 from Sunwing.
Transat Airlines has 18 charter flights to the Destinations from several Canadian cities in the region, while Sunwing has another 11.
Canada’s Bridal Show took place from September 11-13 with the participation of the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta, where they exhibited the wedding and honeymoon services offered by both destinations to over 4,000 brides-to-be.
“The Romance Segment is one of the strongest markets that visit us, second only to the Family Segment,” explained Marc Murphy, Managing Director of the Riviera Nayarit CVB. “These weddings represent a top source of income for the destinations and it’s why we continue seeking this positioning in the minds of the brides.”
Canada’s Bridal Show is one of the top end-consumer events in Canada, allowing destinations to exchange, negotiate and circulate their information at an international level.
Hotels from both destinations were present during the entire week in Toronto in order to help support the activities.
The Riviera Nayarit CVB’s Barometer indicates the city of Toronto was third in place as the city of origin for Canadian tourists to the Riviera Nayarit during the first semester of 2015 with a total of 10.9% of the visitors, behind Vancouver and Montreal.
