The Riviera Nayarit Seeks The US Hispanic Market Via Television
- Univisión and the México Travel Channel taped several shows around the Riviera Nayarit’s microdestinations and their attractions; they will later air in the US, Mexico and Europe.
The Public Relations department of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau was busy this past month welcoming TV stations from the United States and Mexico, which will later broadcast the many attractions found in Mexico’s Pacific Treasure.
The objective of these efforts is to transmit via television and the Internet the latest news from the Destination to the Hispanic community living in the United States. The content will also be broadcasted in Mexico.
One of the production companies that visited the region was sent from Univision, which has 58 television stations in 20 of the 50 most important Spanish-speaking regions in the United States.
Five of these regions alone contain 8 million people. California and Texas are two examples worthy of mentioning, as together they contain half of the Hispanic population of the United States.
The other station was the México Travel Channel, the premier tourism channel in Mexico. It broadcasts to Mexico, the United States and parts of Europe, specifically in Spanish-speaking areas.
The México Travel Channel is on 58% of pay TV programming in Mexico, translating into some 700 cable TV companies. Its programming is also aired via the Internet.
Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Sayulita, San Pancho, and San Blas, among other destinations, were taped in order to be shown later to millions of Hispanics. The stations also visited other areas in Nayarit, including the mountains.
