- The average domestic visitor spend increased 4.5% during the first semester of 2015 when compared to the same time period in 2014; that of visitors from the U.S. increased by 9%, Canada 18% and other nationalities increased by 19%.
Data provided by the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau’s
Tourism Barometer indicates visitor expenditures in the Destination averaged a
14% increase during the first semester of 2015 when compared to the same time
period in 2014.
“The Destination’s statistics and data continue to point towards a
recovery in tourism to the Riviera Nayarit,” commented the Managing Director of
the CVB. “We can see that Emerging Markets such as England, Colombia and Brazil
have increased their spending, though there are still few of these visitors.
This indicates that our interest in these markets has hit the target.”
The United States and Canada are the two international markets with the
largest presence in the Destination, and both have indicated an increase in per
person expenditures: 9% on the part of visitors from U.S. and 18% on behalf of
Canadians.
Regarding the domestic market, there has also been a 4.5% increase in
the average expenditures this year over 2014.
The expenditure by visitors from other nationalities outside of North
America has also increased to 19%. This population represents 0.9% of the
tourists that visit the Riviera Nayarit, but the increase in their presence and
spending is evident.
By contrast, Datatur indicates the increase in countrywide tourism
expenditures for the first four months of 2015 to be 1.4% compared to 2014, a
statistic that serves as a reference point to underline the extent of the
recovery currently underway in the Riviera Nayarit.
