The public relations departments of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur) organized a trip for a Colombian celebrity and a well-regarded magazine in order to position the destinations in this coffee-producing country.
The celebrity in question is Guillermo Prieto La Rotta, better known as “Pirry,” who is a well-known journalist and host for his own TV show on RCN Televisión, “Especiales Pirry,” his platform for interviews and feature stories.
Together with his girlfriend, model Juliana Dinas, the famous “Pirry” toured the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta, their every step shadowed by the crew of Revista 15 Minutos, which already published the story on their May cover. The magazine has a print run of 500 thousand issues.
The cover story included six pages as well as two additional stories, giving readers a tourist guide for the destinations; there is a behind-the-scenes production that is still pending that will be published on social media.
“Pirry” and Julina visited the La Tranquila hotel—where they starred in a photo shoot—, as well as Sayulita, San Pancho, El Anclote and Litibú; they also enjoyed several eco-friendly activities. The first part of the trip was spent in the Riviera Nayarit, followed by a stay in Puerto Vallarta.
The journalist and TV host with some 15 years of experience under his belt has more than 3.3 million followers on Facebook, as well as another nearly 2 million on Twitter. His influence on Colombian society will be key in the positioning of the destinations in the minds of the South American consumer.
