Not all accommodations in the Riviera Nayarit feature an endless number of rooms, giant pools, kids’ clubs and all-inclusive everything: there is also a wonderful variety of options for those in search of a more intimate space and personalized, non-obtrusive service, the kind that’s attentive and from-the-heart. Instead of simply writing out a list of hotels, today I’m going to give you a few reasons why you should seek them out:

Service is very personalized—though never overly familiar—because usually the owners themselves run most of these venues and bungalows and the small number of rooms makes it very cozy. More than likely you’ll get to know all the people who work there and even meet other guests. In fact, you’ll probably make a friend or two to share the highlights of your vacation with!

Mealtimes are usually a daily set menu and most of the time you’ll be eating home cooking, though there are some that offer fusion cuisine and even organic kitchens, as some have there own vegetable gardens. The dining rooms will remind you more of eating at a friend’s house during a weekend stay than dining in a hotel restaurant, with windows wide open to receive the ocean breeze or the caress of the mountain air.

These small hotels are very well priced, but that doesn’t take away any from the quality and cleanliness they offer. In fact, they’re definitely Hotels with Charm! Some are even pet friendly—they might have a few ground rules, but nothing too strict. And even though they may not be right on the beach you just might have an ocean view from a mountain perch or overlook a lovely garden. 

Ask about yoga or SUP classes, spa treatments, tours or more; some places do offer these services and others will be able to suggest excellent options to tailor your stay just the way you like it.
