The chilean newspaper El Mercurio will reveal the secrets of Riviera Nayarit
· The most prestigious Chilean newspaper will dedicate an article to Mexico’s Pacific Treasure on its ‘Domingo’ magazine
“Riviera Nayarit is one of the best kept secrets for travelers, and we came here to find out why”, said Sebastián Montalva, reporter for the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio’s Domingo magazine. The reporter visited Riviera Nayarit last September 25 through 29, touring our destination looking for special untouched spots that have made Riviera Nayarit the fastest growing tourist destination in Mexico.
The reporter enjoyed the most luxurious experience in Punta Mita and the adventure of sleeping in a yoga retreat in the middle of the jungle. He also visited Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, Sayulita, San Pancho and Lo de Marcos. “If I had to choose a part of my trip that I really enjoyed, it would be the experience of staying in the middle of the jungle, facing the ocean. We do not have bugs in Chile, so it was quite an experience to listen to the sounds of the jungle at night and dawn, while enjoying a view that was to die for”, stated the journalist.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) of Riviera Nayarit is working intensely to promote our destination through public relations efforts in order to attract the attention of the most influential media, so that they’ll in turn feature the tourist attractions of our destination. Sebastián Montalva’s visit is a result of these marketing efforts, which follow the objectives defined by the State Government of Nayarit, headed by Roberto Sandoval, to benefit all people.
El Mercurio is one of the oldest newspapers in Latin America and the one that has the greatest influence on the opinion of Chileans. It was founded in 1900 – although its subsidiary, El Mercurio de Valparaíso, has been published since 1827 and today is known as “the dean of the Chilean press”. Its travel magazine, Domingo, specializes in travel and has been published since 1966.
“Today, the average Chilean traveler is looking for established products in larger resorts, and certainly this is an interesting market. However, we focus on trendsetters, on those who seek something more exclusive and want to visit places before they become mainstream – and this is why we’ve come to Riviera Nayarit”, said Montalvo.
The newspaper is part of Grupo Diarios de America (American Newspaper Group), which includes La Nación (Argentina), El Comercio (Ecuador), O Globo (Brazil), El Tiempo (Colombia), El Universal (México), El Comercio (Peru) El País (Uruguay) and El Nacional (Venezuela), who are able to use the information that this newspaper generates. “Argentina’s La Nación and Colombia’s El Tiempo frequently use the articles on new destinations that we publish in Domingo, so there is a chance that the number of readers will be multiplied through these publications”, said the journalist.
