The Riviera Nayarit maintains a presence in the north


  • As part of its domestic marketing efforts, Mexico’s Pacific Treasure participated in two important events focused on travel agents in Monterrey, Nuevo León.

Just a few weeks before the start of the summer tourist season, the Riviera Nayarit reinforced its presence in the northern region of Mexico with two days of intense promotional work in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, one of the destination’s primary domestic markets.

The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) held two events on May 29th and 30th with the participation of representatives from Vidanta, Decameron, W Punta de Mita, Marival Resorts, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, Villa La Estancia, Villa del Palmar Flamingos, Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta, Grand Palladium, and Dreams Villamagna.



The first event was focused on retail travel agents: a total of 48 were present from agencies including El Corte Inglés, Viajes Intermex (a Virtuoso agency backed American Express), Navimex, Benetoon Tours, Viajes Nuevo León, Viajes Trema, and Mundo Regio, to name but a few. The spotlight on Thursday, May 30th was on 20 agents specializing in groups, meetings, congresses, and conventions, a segment where the Riviera Nayarit has made strides over the past few years.

The agents showed great interest in the destination as it is one of their best-sellers, which is why they are always interested in updates on what’s new.

  • The Riviera Nayarit has been positioned as one of the most sought-after destinations by travelers from northern Mexico thanks to the options for direct connectivity with Monterrey. Currently there are direct flights on the MTY-PVR/Riviera Nayarit route via Viva Aerobús, Aeroméxico, Volaris, and Magnicharters.
  • The flow of visitors from Monterrey has increased year over year. Nuevo León is currently the fourth state of origin for domestic visitors to the Riviera Nayarit after Jalisco, Guanajuato, and Mexico City, thus the importance of maintaining a presence for the destination among this state’s travel agents.

The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) are work intensively to promote the destination with the support of the Government of the State of Nayarit via its Tourism Promotional Trust (Fiprotur).
