History of Restaurant Week
Restaurant Week began in 2005 with the backing of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, as well as the sponsorship of Primera Piedra. It was meant to emulate the culinary events held in other important destinations in the world. When it was created its main purpose was to incentivize the local economy during a month that was considered to peak low season. Currently, the month of May is a very active tourism month thanks to several events, of which Restaurant Week is one of the most established.

The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB) continue to publicize the region jointly, reinforcing its promotion and helping position Mexico’s Pacific Treasure on the world culinary map, with the support of the Government of the State of Nayarit via the Tourism Promotion Trust (Fiprotur).
