2017 Pee Wee League Arrives In The Riviera Nayarit’s Surfing Capital

  • It’s Sayulita’s turn to host the itinerant surfing competition that tours different coastal towns in Nayarit, looking to discover the newest talent in this extreme sport.

The Magical Town of Sayulita, the Surfing Capital of the Riviera Nayarit, will host the 2017 Pee Wee Surfing League, the 8th stop on this youth circuit that began last August and seeks to discover the newest talent in this extreme sport.
The tournament is presented by Ramos Shapes, Sunset Bungalows and Los Rudos SurfShop, and follows the competition formats established by the World Surfing League’s (WSL) World Championship Tour Top 33 and the Surfing Association of the State of Nayarit (ASENAY, by its acronym in Spanish). It receives the support of local surfing clubs.
The first stage of the competition took place in the month of August with two dates, one in Sayulita (August 19) and another in San Pancho (August 26); it followed with two dates in San Pancho (September 9 and 30); one in San Blas (October 7); two in Punta de Mita (October 14 and November 25); and, in closing, on December 16 in Sayulita.

Sayulita Surf Co.’s Giovanni Pérez said 8-year-old Nicolás Fernández from Sayulita is the top scorer so far this season; he’s won four of the abovementioned dates, which makes him a favorite to snag the Champion of Champions award.
All surfing aficionados are invited to this family event on December 16th starting at 9 a.m. Beach access is through Gaviotas Street.
The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association, with the backing of the Bahía de Banderas Tourism Promotion Trust, is pleased to support this kind of event, which helps to encourage a love for the sport within the new generations and champions these young surfers during their training and growth as first-rate athletes.
