AHMBB Board of Directors Confirmed

  • It has committed to continuing its search of alternative markets, stimulate the domestic market, work with all three levels of government, create more coop campaigns, attend to the union members and continue working on the city image, the beach cleanups, safety and infrastructure.

On Monday, January 31st the Hotel Iberostar Playa Mita welcomed the first 2017 assembly of the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB by its acronym in Spanish), where the board of directors was confirmed by a unanimous vote.

The confirmed positions included Fernando González Ortega as President, Jesús Carmona as Vice President, Heriberto Pineda as Treasurer, and Speakers Javier Colorado and Rodolfo Pacheco.

During the meeting they presented the 2016 results from the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the AHMBB, both operational and accounting, which the union members found satisfactory.

“There are several points to highlight, including the unity found in the AHMBB, which is the most important, plus the complete support of the Board of Directors for the CVB’s work, which has made us very satisfied. The result is the repetition of the formula,” declared Fernando González Ortega.

To wit, he mentioned there is enthusiasm for the excellent numbers on the reports, including the increase in air seats thanks to the joint efforts with Puerto Vallarta. He also pointed out the participation of the union in the airport committee, the advisory council and other sectors that influenced the development of the region.

“We will continue to work on recovering the revenue spent on promotion, to work with Puerto Vallarta on the joint promotion, to work with the Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) in order to achieve a greater number of coops and apply them in the best way possible; we will also continue to back the union members through all the services we are able to offer them,” added González Ortega.


He also emphasized that beyond the topics of tourism promotion such as seeking alternate markets and stimulating domestic tourism, there are other issues that the AHMBB and the Riviera Nayarit CVB must address such as the image of the city, the beach cleanups, safety issues and others that benefit the region as a whole and the reason they will remain vigilant and on task.
