Joint Promotion Arrives In The Far Northern And Southern Reaches Of The Continent

  • 350 travel agents for WestJet Vacations received training in the Canadian cities of Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg; in Brazil, 290 travel agents in Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro also received training.

The Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit Joint Promotional Campaign was busy during the last week of August, working intensely in the northernmost and southernmost regions of the American continent, specifically, Canada and Brazil.

The Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) was present in both countries; the entity has accompanied the destinations’ representatives in their mission to maintain and increase the influx of tourists from these Natural Markets, as well as activate and consolidate Emerging Markets.

The Mexico Day WestJet Vacations tour took place from August 24-27, 2015, visiting the cities of Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg, training over 350 travel agents that work with this Tour Operator.

According to information from the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau Barometer, Vancouver is the top city of origin in Canada for the destination with 22.3% of the total number of tourists, Edmonton is fourth at 9.9% followed by Winnipeg at 9.2% in fifth place and Calgary in sixth at 6.2%.

The second positioning tour the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta held this year in Brazil took place from August 24-28 in that country’s top tourism markets of Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro.

The group of eight Tour Operators the destinations’ work with in Brazil chose 290 travel agents among them to recieve training during these activities. Of the five Emerging Markets in South America, Brazil is the one with the best response to the Joint Promotion.

In this manner the Riviera Nayarit CVB and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust continue to implement their established positioning strategies to improve the influx of tourists towards both destinations, benefiting the citizens of both Nayarit and Vallarta.
