- The team visited 120 travel agencies in Houston and Dallas where they updated around 240 travel agents; they also held seminars in both cities, which were attended by another 140 travel agencies.
The promotions departments of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur) visited travel agencies and held two seminars in Texas in order to promote the summer flights to this region of Mexico.
Wholesaler Funjet Vacations will operate new flights during the 2015 summer season from Dallas and Houston, so updating the 260 travel agencies in those cities was very important.
The Director of the Houston office of the Mexico Tourism Board, Patricia Hernández, was present at the seminars.
On May 4-5, the team visited 60 agencies in Austin, Waco and the Dallas suburbs. They also held a seminar in Dallas attended by 70 travel agents with the participation of wholesalers Apple Vacations, American Airlines Vacations, Funjet Vacations and MLT/Delta Vacations.
The same type of promotional work was done in Houston on May 6-7 with twice the amount of agents and agencies in attendance; the presentation gave them the tools they need to close sales that will reflect in an uptick in visitors during the coming summer season.
Representatives from 18 of the region’s hotels accompanied the team from the Riviera Nayarit CVB and Puerto Vallarta’s Fidetur.
Sun Country and Funjet Vacations gave away eight plane tickets plus stays at hotels in both destinations in order to thank and incentivize the attending travel agents.
