The Cirque du Soleil… Is Coming To The Riviera Nayarit!

Cirque du Soleil, an icon in the entertainment industry, and Grupo Vidanta, expert developer of world-class resorts, have announced plans to build the first amusement park of its kind in Nuevo Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit. The project, which is still in the planning stages, may include both an aquatic park and a nature park where they will present open-air shows seating anywhere from 3,000 to 5,000 spectators. Each presentation will be animated by Cirque du Soleil artists and follow a common story line.

“Grupo Vidanta is offering us an incredible open forum where we can engage our creativity,” said Guy Laliberté, Founder of Cirque du Soleil. “We both seek perfection—they are passionate and are concerned about the environment around them. We have challenged ourselves to create something completely different from what is already out there,” he added.

The development of this project in Nuevo Vallarta points to the redefinition of the concept of the amusement park, much like Cirque du Soleil’s JOYÀ project in the Riviera Maya, is redefining the concept of “dinner and a show.” The menu to be enjoyed before the show will be a unique and completely custom project, meaning the experience will surely offer an exquisite symbiosis between the ambiance and the show itself. There is no doubt this will be a can’t-miss event. Completion date for the park is projected to be in 2018, giving visitors one more reason to visit our beautiful destination.

It’s interesting to point out that Cirque du Soleil is already present in the Riviera Nayarit in El Circo de los Niños (The Children’s Circus), an ensemble established in 2011 in San Francisco, the Riviera Nayarit’s Culture Capital (also known as San Pancho), by Gilles Ste-Croix—one of the founders of the Cirque du Soleil. The objective of this non-profit group is to encourage the community children to delve into the arts, sports and their own creativity and inspire them to visualize new opportunities in their lives, to develop their personalities, enhance their motor skills and raise their self-esteem as they enjoy the satisfaction of using their acquired skills.

This season they are presenting a show titled DAR A LUZ (GIVING BIRTH), open to the public from March 19-21.
