- More than 250 cars and about 1,500 people will come together at the Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle on Sunday the 31st; on the afternoon of Saturday the 30th there will be a parade departing from the roundabout across the way from the El Tigre Golf Course.
The third edition of the VW Riviera Fest is here, a meet-up of Volkswagen vehicles that will be on exhibit and in competitions on the 30th and 31st of August at the Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Hanacaxtle.
There will be over 250 modified vehicles with unique designs on the classic Bug and Combi chassis, as well as other models like Jetta, Golf and sand buggies.
Some 1,500 attendees are expected between participants and tourists who enjoy this type of auto show.
Aurelio Ruelas, a member of Wagen Volks, the organizing group, announced that on Saturday, August 30th, there will be an inaugural parade to kick off the event at 5:30 p.m., leaving from the roundabout across from the El Tigre Golf course in Nuevo Vallarta and making its way through the hotel zone to the Marina de la Cruz.
Activities begin on Sunday at 9 a.m. sharp through sundown. This free event will offer live music, sound, a children’s play area and even a rock-climbing wall, among other activities.
“It has two formats, since it’s an event that’s supported by a national Volkswagen association, we have to add on a competition as well as an exhibition,” explained Ruelas.
A high level of automobile showmanship is expected, but the drivers will also be put to the test. They will have to compete in El Balancín, a game that consists in driving the car up a ramp and balancing it in the middle.
“As far as the Convention and Visitors Bureau is concerned, they have helped us quite a bit,” said Ruelas. “They’ve opened many doors for us and they’ve been great hosts and supporters during the organization of this event.”
