JULY’S CAN’T-MISS EVENTS



This summer is starting off with a very warm climate, quite humid and breezy. The amazing natural surroundings are at their best and, of course, the beach, the mountains and even the air beckon visitors to adventure. There are also plenty of events to keep you busy and round out your stay. 

Art Festival Every Saturday during the month of July (5, 12, 19, 26) Nuevo Vallarta’s boardwalk (malecón) turns into an Art Festival. Different local artists and artisans will present their wares along the wide pedestrian walkway, where you’ll be able to admire their work and perhaps take home a piece or two.

The 2014 Optimist North American Championship (OPTINAM) will be held for the first time in the Riviera Nayarit from July 9-17 at the Vallarta Yacht Club located in Nuevo Vallarta. It will welcome 227 sailors aboard 176 vessels from 19 countries, together with their trainers, family members and the news media.

This international competition includes three championships: the Optimist Individual North American Championship (INAM); the Optimist Team Racing North American Championship (TRNAM) and the Optimist Nations Cup (NC). 

Participants from the United States, Canada, Uruguay, Venezuela, Argentina, Switzerland, New Zealand, Singapore and other Mexican states began arriving July 1st. The 8th Annual Marlin and Tuna Banderas Bay Fishing Tournament will take place from July 17-19. The registration fee per team is $7,000 Mexican pesos and includes a special purse for Mahi Mahi and Sailfish. The prizes include first place Marlin for $60 thousand pesos plus a special package from the sponsors; first place Tuna for $50 thousand pesos plus a special package from the sponsor; and special prizes for Mahi Mahi and Sailfish.
