- This direct marketing strategy through the Western and Bajío regions is generating immediate results for our destination
In an effort to attract the attention of national tourists for the upcoming summer season, 710 travel agents were contacted directly and briefed on the latest news in Riviera Nayarit through the Riviera Nayarit Caravan.
Therefore, a new tour of the Caravan has been planned to visit Mexico City and Puebla on June 25-29, where over 550 agents are expected to attend this Tradeshow Seminars designed to present the best of Mexico’s Pacific Treasure.
In 2011, 78.12% of all visitors to Riviera Nayarit were Mexican, hailing mostly from the Western and Bajío regions, and generating an economic downpour of $642,402,091 pesos, according to the Tourism Barometer of our destination.
According to historical data for national tourism, Jalisco contributes with approximately 59% of all visitors to Riviera Nayarit, while Guanajuato and Aguascalientes contribute with 5%, Querétaro 4%, Michoacán 3%, and San Luis Potosí around 1%.
The first tour of the Caravan was developed to adjust to these statistics, and offered seminars for tour operators and travel agents in cities like Morelia, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, León and Guadalajara.
Participants also enjoyed breakfast sessions, where the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) of Riviera Nayarit provided information on our destination and the world-class infrastructure and the magnificent natural landscapes that can be found in our destination. Additionally, there was a trade show that had the participation of 17 properties located in Riviera Nayarit, 6 hotels from Compostela, and 4 from Tepic, as well as service providers like Canopy La Vista, Dolphin Discovery, Vallarta Adventures and Interjet.
After the work sessions, hotel, airline and service provider representatives talked to each and every participant to describe the products they offer – using a direct approach that resulted in a more effective communication with the agents.
The Riviera Nayarit Tour produced immediate results through the creation of a group and conventions roster and even initial calls for reservations to La Tranquila and Tau Resort Santa María. There was also coverage by specialized media like Turismo Radio, Boletín Turístico, Travel Medios, Grupo Va Editora and the ABZ magazine, as well as the AM from León and Pulso from San Luis Potosí.
