‘El Universal’, one of the most influential and most widely-read newspapers in Mexico said that visiting an indigenous community offers one of the most memorable travel experiences, and Riviera Nayarit makes it possible.
Gretel Zanella, editor of the Destinos (Destinations) supplement of this newspaper, and photographers Viridiana Ramirez and Alma Rodriguez, visited the community of Aguamilpa on July 1 to 4 to experience life with the Huicholes, and to get to know their traditions and lifestyle, as well as their culture and gastronomy.
The possibility of getting close to one of the oldest cultures of this country, and experiencing their live traditions is yet another feature of Riviera Nayarit, whose cultural and historic wealth is fused with amazing natural landscapes, first-class touristic services and the warmth of a town whose contact with other cultures is an ancestral heritage.
‘El Universal’ is presenting these stories to its readers, and recently decided to live the experience up-close. This newspaper is one of the most influential in Mexico, and its website has over 13 million unique visitors, who altogether view 200 million pages per month.
More than 50% of this newspaper’s audience is comprised of people that make business decisions: 10.7% are high profile executives, 23.4 are managers and 22.1 are business owners. The remaining 43.7% is constituted of many different segments.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) of Riviera Nayarit, through its PR efforts, is seeking to attract the most influential media so that they’ll present the touristic offers of our destination. The visit of El Universal is the result of said promotional efforts.
